You can use your card anywhere Mastercard or Visa is accepted.
Bear in mind that UK based cards will charge foreign transaction fees which do vary.

The Halifax clarity MasterCard can be used and on this card they do not charge any fees. it's best to ring them and let them know were you are going otherwise they could put a hold on your card.
very good point Gra - some providers do block usae abroad unless you call beforehand.
Prepaid providers that specialise in Foreign travel cards you wont though but UK based prepaid providers it is also worth sending them an email or calling up
