for comparison site i put number plate in and says it doesn't recognize it been on to dvla they say its on the system as a Toyota but nothing else not even the model of the car HELP!
Hi littleminx1210, and welcome to the forum.
Forgive me if this is a silly question, but are you sure you entered your registration number correctly? If you did, then has the number plate been changed at any time?
Have you tried talking directly to any insurer? You could try phoning one for a quote and get them to enter the plate as a double check.
If it still comes up as not recognized, I would suggest you contact the DVLA and ask them for advice. Contact details are here...

Hi, littleminx, and welcome.
This probably has no relevance to your question as it's such an unlikely thing to happen..... but it happened to me so I will mention it.
When I picked up my last new car, I drove it home, stroked it, and went into the house feeling like a very happy bunny. An hour later, I felt compelled to go and have another look, and was horrified to discover that the dealer had put the wrong number plates on. It was a very small mistake - a 'V' that should have been a 'Y' but had I not noticed I could have driven round with the wrong number plates for ages.
This, of course, would have thrown up an error message had I tried to get an insurance quote.
Just a thought!
You can search for your car without the registration number on most of the comparison sites.
My previous car used to come up as the wrong model if I tried to use the registration number, so the insurance would have been invalid - so just manually fill in the car details. Bit more time consuming, but you end up with the correct result!
