Do you have sufficient income to service both mortgages?
Hi gavinw and welcome to the forum.
This is the sort of question that we could form conjecture around all day ... that is without knowing the full facts. It would certainly be hard if not impossible to refinance on what you suggest and as Jazz so rightly says, can your income support the extra money? Out of interest, why do you require the extra money?
I have a joint mortgage on a family home. I have since split with my partner and now want to buy another house with a 10% deposit.
The family home mortgage is being paid for by my ex partner but my name is to remain on this mortgage.

Hi The_G ... is this a response to the question set by gavinw or a question of your own?
it is further information on the situation.
I am gavinw but cant remember the log in details.
In that case The_G, I think you will have problems! Remember, technically you are still jointly liable for the joint family home mortgage as your ex-partner could cease payment at any time. Getting a further mortgage with a 10% deposit is going to be difficult in itself but I do sense that being jointly liable on another mortgage is going to complicate it even further. Perhaps you should run this by a decent mortgage advisor for a more definitive view.
