They sent a live credit card to the imaginary address and the mistake wasn't discovered for two weeks, during which time we were wide open to fraud. What sort of compensation should we ask for?
Oh thanks but we're not really expecting much over the ?30 already offered :)
Also you don't need the pin to buy online and many websites still don't ask for passwords.
Swordfish24, in answer to your problem. The bank should not have made this mistake, but that is why PIN numbers don't travel with cards. You could try the "Data Protection" card, as they will hide behind humans making errors!
You may get an apology, but I suggest you don't spend the expected spoils until it is in your bank account! Best of luck!
Well, something is better than nothing!
I quite agree, I mostly wondered if anyone else had experienced similar. Thanks for the answer.
Hi Swordfish24 and welcome to the forum.
Bank are very resiliant to admitting culpability in anything as (a) they may lose out (b) they are setting a precedent, and (c) the issue could be turned into case law.
When you say 'imaginary address' .. was the address used simply 'made up' or gibberish? And as a result, did you actually suffer a loss? Frankly, if you didn't I would have said the ?30 was very generous!
