Both me and partner are soon going on minimum wage, we have two young kids and a large mortgage. Are we entitled to any benefits?

I only do 2hours a week and more if I can as required, as youngest is not in full time education.

Hi spacey and welcome to the forum.

I assume that your partner works full time? And as such I assume that you have claimed your entitlement to Child Benefit, Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credits? And if either of your children are special needs there may also be scope for Disability Living Allowance and Careers Allowance.

You should also check out eligibilty for Council Tax Benefit with your local council.

Alas, Support for Mortgage Interest ( SMI ) is only available if you are in receipt of certain state benefits :

*Income Support
*income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
*income-related Employment and Support Allowance
