Hi,

You don't need an additional warranty to sort problems at the point of sale :) Under the "Sale Of Goods Act" (or SOGA as it's often abbreviated) goods must be fit for purpose and of appropriate quality when sold. It's one reason why manufacturers offer 1 - 5 years guarantees on their products anyway as they know if there are any faults in the first few months that we'd be able to get them to repair, replace or refund under SOGA.

So if you have any problem with a good you've just bought, contact the seller.

Looking at your question, it appears that you have purchased knowing that something is faulty. Possibly it was sold and advertised as an item that was defective and sold at a discounted price because of this known fault.

In this instance, I don't believe that the SOGA will cover the fault if it was knowingly bought from the retailer or manufacturer as a faulty item!

I suspect that the warranty will cover the item in the condition that it was bought, in other words it will cover all other aspects of the product with the exclusion of the highlighted fault at the time of purchase.
