I was quite happy to get a shiny new diary for 2012.
I loved everything I was bought and felt very lucky that my lovely family had chosen them with such love and thoughtfullness, Bless them.
I bought myself a new diary for 2012 lost it and had to buy another one.
I got very little as there is very little I need so we don't exchange gifts much, but enjoy being together moreso. My husband got me what I asked for while we were out shopping: A lovely old leather bag as I was passing a 2nd hand shop. Set him back less than £10; some salmon - always 1/2 price this time of year and my guilty pleasure; some Redbush and Earl Grey Tea. I'm happy as Larry. I got him some Brie and 'real' butter! LOL We are cheapskates (out of necessity just now) but each of those gifts made us smile with joy.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!
Oh SJKenny .. how nice to see someone actively enjoying the simpler ( and cheaper ) things in life. Yes, it can be done and I firmly believe that it's the small presents, providing they are tailored and 'just so', that bring the greatest appreciation. If only Christmas was truly about that, perhaps the magic would come back.
I did receive some truly wonderful things this year but the pride of place was a 'Special Dad' fridge magnet! OH yes, and some 'Snoopy' socks ... wonderful!
To be honest I have been spoilt rotten this year and can honestly say that my lifelong dreams have all come true .... on top of that I received some lovely pressies for christmas - some 'big and expensive and lovely' and other smaller/cheaper ones that a lot of thought went in to, which makes them very special.
Snoopy Socks - I love it! I love those gifts that bring a smile to your face. Have a good one, Snoops!
Good for you wendiew, glad you having a good time
Thank you SJK ... I love socks that remind me of who I am or would like to be ... like my name socks ...'Michael - He who is like the Lord' ... Spot on!
Most of us remember who we are without socks snoops..bet your undies are courtesy of St Michael at M&S too :)
Actually Jazz they are! Apart from the time that I used to get them at 'C & A' but that's another story!
You're new year's resolution not to be smutty is going to be sooooooooooooooo hard Snoops :)
Ms Jazz ... I was only commenting on C&A now being a redundant brand name, sad to say. Did you have a different interpretation ... ? I hate to think!
And I was only commenting on your resolution.........
That's okay Jazz .... let's hope 2012 continues to hold humour ... I reall think we're all going to need it! And I'll start by wearing Snoopy socks today! Lol
Agree with that Snoopy, better to laugh than cry :)
I think you have met your match Snoopy !!!!! with Jazzj. Now remember your resolution for 2012 not to make us ladies tell smutty stories and end up in the sewer with you.
I had a lovely lovely Christmas, the best I've had for a long time, and it was nothing to do with presents! My children are wonderful
I so love what you have posted here Jazz ... and I couldn't agree more. I cannot understand why people gloat over what they have given or received because in many ways it's false emotional economy, or at least that's what I call it. Why should we all have to keep face by digging deep yet again when simple companionship, helping others and tokens of love and affection are so much more rewarding. This year, simply spending time with my own children and the grandchildren was oh so rewarding and outshone everything else.
Having said all of that, if the ideal woman came into my life and popped a BMW on my forecourt, I would not say no .... but of course I jest!
You might be lucky Snoopy - who can tell - you and I or really anyone else can forecast the future. I do agree about Jazzj's lovely remarks about the children as I loved seeing mine on Christmas day and felt very fortunate that they wanted to come and spend time with "the old lass" and have fun and laughter which we can all join in with. I really find it a huge void when they have gone home and just for a fraction of time wish they were small again and hanging their stocking up and opening their eyes in the early hours and shouting "has Father Christmas been". Sometimes they had only been in bed an hour. Then after they have returned home with their love ones all becomes normal again as my hubby and I enjoy an old film, a Christmas drink and the peace and quiet again.
It was our first Christmas without their dad here - did wonder how they would be, but it was really lovely
Well, CS, I was quite happy not to receive any presents this year, there's nothing I particularly need and although I gave presents to my family, I would rather they bought some nice gifts for their own children, than spend their money on me this year.
Bless you, Fruitcake. What a lovely mother!
Thats lovely fruitcake, spoken like a true mum !
Just seems like common sense to me in these difficult times, but thanks anyway.
Ps I did buy myself a couple of dvds tho! :-)
I was a little bit disappointed with my DVDs considering I chose them myself so can only blame me. I got the Jersey boys, Susan Boyle's latest which will never come up to her first one I dreamed a dream and then someone bought me (not my choice) a Tony Bennett also the latest IL DIVO (Wicked Game) which I didn't like at all.
Fortunately I have an elderly neighbour who, after I have transferred them onto my Ipod those I like, will get them all so he will be a very happy "bunny".
Aww, that's a sweet thought, Sabre.
I bought 'Senna' (was a massive fan of his, am such a petrolhead!), and a couple of Dr Who ones! :-)
Sorry should have said CDs fruity. Lost the plot today !!!!!
Hope you enjoyed your Christmas with your family. I love to see their faces when they open the presents.
You're not the only one, Sabre, I keep having to check my mobile phone to see what day of the week it is! :-(
It is lovely to watch their expressions when they open their presents...hope you had a lovely Christmas too. :-)
EEK! Just remembered it's bin day tomorrow...better dash and put the rubbish and recycling out!
Mine was today, and I was super-efficient and remembered before they got here!
Very lovely Christmas thanks fruity. Busy Christmas day but a lazy eating up day Boxing Day.
I have a reminder sent to me the day before and ours is always a date later when it's holiday time.
Mine used to be - used to confuse the heck out of me - but now its collected on the day its supposed to be come what may :)
We decided not to do presents this year. No kids to buy for and we both have everything we could want or need - unless we won the lottery and I could have my Lotus Esprit Turbo!
It was very relaxed and we had a lovely time.
I loved mine. I'm typing this from it right now :)
Erm, then again I bought it for myself, so does that count as a gift?
Pure self indulgence G-Man .... I like it!
Yes and it's even better to choose it yourself then you know you will like it. I bought a lovely new T.V. for the kitchen with a nice sized screen and I love it. Also some CDa but dipped out there as I'm not too keen. I also got the chance to choose from other people and am delighted with what I received. So enjoy new laptop G-Man and get plenty of wear out of it.
Only way to ensure you get exactly what you want G-Man :)
Yes, i got a new kindle although wasnt expecting anything as hubby and i had said we wouldnt get anything. I had got him a dvd boxed set as it was on offer and got cashback on purchase. He is watching it as i type this! We asked for money and vouchers for christmas and have bought what we wanted with them - another kindle and a sat nav. Happy days.

Glad you had a good one Sabre, and the diary will turn up now you've bought a new one......it always does :)
So pleased you enjoyed your Christmas Jazzj and hope the New Year will be a very special one for you and your lovely family - Love Sabre xxx
So now you will be able to have one diary for fun and one for boring stuff!
Or an 'official' one full to the brim so you can produce it and claim to be too busy to do something you don't want to do..and an actual one for the opposite :)
What a brilliant idea, Jazzj!
