I would find it rather too stressful if I hadn't completed my shopping and Christmas card list by now.
Hi CS, well I'm always all sorted out by now, but I have at least one male friend who does all his Christmas present shopping on Christmas Eve! Also, I always work Christmas Eve in the Oxfam bookshop, and last year we had loads of men coming in at the last minute looking for a Christmas gift for their wives!!
The worry now is "Have I bought them enough, will they like their presents, have they already got one the same"? Oh well it's too late now and I'm off to order myself The Jersey Boys for my New Year present to myself.
Don't worry Sabre, I did mean something small, I'm not good at spending money on myself!
Just get something for a little treat and wrap it up real nice. It will do you good. It doesn't have to be a lot.
You are right CS and it just goes to show how we have all evolved to conform to the commercial pressures of life rather than following simple spiritual pleasures.
I have always compared it to sitting an exam, once you enter the exam room the pressure of preparation is off and you can do no more ... it's been a tough year and the 'right' present never seems to get any cheaper.
But if you think about it, all of the worry and preparation in the world only culminates in a few seconds of unwrapping, doesn't it?
I agree Snoopy, by about 5pm on Christmas Eve there's nothing more to be done but relax and enjoy, and if it doesn't go to plan it doesn't matter as this year I'll be amongst friends and family :)
I haven't even bought cards yet... im only giving a few out anyway. I am doing last minute chrostmas shopping on christmas eve though. I am constantly working and have no holidays left to take for shopping time. and i only realised it was nearly christmas on the first of december and thats when i started buying a few things... eek!
Don't panic, EmmaMarie, you will be fine, and there should be lots of bargains! :-)
It takes me by surprise every year EM, and once December comes there's always something that stops me going out to buy things. This year nearly everything has come courtesy of amazon :)
