Why is my car insurance so expensive, £404? I have been offered car insurance for as little as £192.Loyalty counts for nothing.

I hold both house and car insurance with Directline, but whether I will in the future is food for thought. And why is it so difficult to ask a simple question?

Hope you feel better for getting that off your chest! If both policies offer exactly the same go for the cheaper, or the one that suits your needs best. Personally I've always found directline more expensive, so I take my money elsewhere. If you need to ask directline a question their contact details should be on their website.

Hi suemwa, and welcome to the forum.

I agree with you, loyalty counts for nothing with insurance providers these days. I too have found Direct Line expensive, I got a car insurance quote from them a couple of months ago, and it was so ridiculously high that I actually thought the person on the other end of the phone was joking! He wasn't! The answer is to shop around for the best quote that suits your requirements.

I am with Direct Line. I shopped around last year and thought I'd found a cheaper supplier but when I'd signed up I realised that the Direct Line one was cheaper as so much that was included required an additional payment with others. It wasn't clear on the comparison sites. I ended up back with Direct Line. I also find their customer service is extremely good. I have had to claim again this weekend as we were shunted off the road by an idiot. Direct Line were so efficient which always helps when you're stressed out.
