Top of my head answer, unless your child is severely disabled ( which is probably not the case ), then I understand that you need to receive either the high or middle rate of DLA, Care Component, to qualify for additional tax credits. Tax credits can be a complex subject ( well it is HMRC who make them so! ) so perhaps best bet is to run this by the Tax Credit Helpline for a definitive response .... 0845 300 3909
