Should Store Cards Be Banned? What Is Good About Them?

by , 5 months agoOpen Question

The so called discounts they they give do not offset the high interest rates.

I have only ever had one store card and I opened it to get the initial 20% discount. I then forgot to pay off the full balance and ended up paying the hugely inflated interest rate which counteracted the discount in the first place!

I haven't used a store card since and do not intend to in the future.

I also only had one which I got a good discount off. I received a letter from them and didn't realise the bill amount to pay off was on the other side so was waiting to pay the outstanding amount but not having noticed the bill I was late with my payment and ended up paying full price.

I was so mad with myself I cut the card up and have never entertained one again especially as Martin Lewis is always on about not having store cards as the interest is phenomenal
