Hi all. My bank has recommended to download 'Trusteer Rapport'. Does anyone have any experience or opinions on this security software?
Many thanks in advance.
I have this as part of my banks (First Direct) added online protection. I have found it a very useful resource to have. You will not be aware that it is even there. I've had it on my system for about two years.
What I do like about it is that it offers you an additional level of security. It doesn't interfere with any other security software you may already have installed on your computer.
Banks want this as it offers a very high level of encryption of your banking details and prevents the risk of your information being hacked.
I could well see the day where customers who don't have what the banks offer by way of online protection, they may well make you liable for some of the losses incurred should your account be cyber attacked.
I am very happy with the additional peace of mind that Trusteer Rapport offers, knowing that my online financial dealings are covered by a trusted high level of ebcrypted security.
If for any reason you don't like it you can easily uninstall it.
I found this software to be a bit resource intensive. Whilst I cannot argue it offers a further layer of security, it does impair the computer to some extent.
I use good spec machines as I am in the computing industry and this was the case on all I used it on.
If you do not use your computer for many applications that require online activity, or are happy with the reduced browsing speeds, it is always advisable to use any added security. If you depend quite a bit on connectivity, but are capable of managing your activity to a safe level you might wish to control your own security rather than have this as an anchor.
Personal decision really ?
If you access many social or unsolicited sites high security is a must !!!
