What is the difference between MT4 and ECN forex

I'm a novice Forex trader, just wanting to play with a few thousand spare I have. On FxPro, there are two types of accounts - MT4 and ECN. What do these mean?

MT4 - Meta Trader 4
ECN - Electronic communication network
As far as I am aware, one is an account type, the other is network/exchange.
