Hi
Having just called sky, querying the cost of getting sky plus for my dads account as a fathers day present, i was informed i would have to pay £60 which would then be refunded to me once the box had been installed, meaning the whole process is free. Can this really be correct, what would sky gain from this? surely nothing.. they would be paying for the box and for the engineer to come out and fit it...
No, they are giving you the box free but you would still have to pay an extra amount each month for the Sky Plus service. It's currently about £10.25 a month.
Sky plus doesn't have an additional charge every month, I have sky plus and pay no extra. HD is £10.25 a month but I specifically said to the guy on the phone that I did not require HD.
Having just called sky back again to check the information I was given last night, I spoke to an english woman. (the previous call was answered by a indian call centre I should add). She told me that what I was told was completely wrong and she does not know where he got the information from that he told me!! I am definitely not impressed by this. I could very well have placed that order with someone half way across the world who didn't have a clue what he was talking about!
Hi lalilo82 and welcome to the forum.
All I can say is Here, Here! We have spoken many times on this site about the effectiveness or rather lack of it, of Indian Call Centres.
This is one case where recording the conversation would have been welcome. I suspect that the Indian Call Centre operative was reading from a script, poorly trained, or simply got confused with British protocol. It is indeed very bad press for Sky although I suspect that taking the complaint any further would not be productive. And since the original offer was too good to be believed, that is the point at which we should always ask to be transferred to a British representative.
Nice thought for your dad though!
