When I was paying for a cruise last year for my friend and myself I realised they were going to add a percentage for paying by Visa so I was crafty and sent them a cheque from each of us instead - no extra charge for a cheque. They are very crafty and don't tell you when you discuss holiday with them.

This is becoming incredibly prevalent now. I heard on Radio 4 yesterday about a theatre that's charging for people buying tickets with cash!
I would suggest you check the T's & C's and any fine print you can to see if there's a payment method that doesn't incur the extra charge. If not, Sabre's suggestion sounds worth a try!
