Can I ask for a refund?

by , 11 months agoOpen Question

I bought some shoes that seemed comfy when I tried them on in the shop but after wearing them once they cut my feet to pieces. They're not technically faulty but they are lethal. It's not that they don't fit, the back of the shoes are just really sharp. Would I be able to get a refund as I won't be able to wear the shoes again?

Yes, get your money back. The quicker you take them back the better. But if they are faulty which cutting your feet would tend to suggest then you should be able to get your money back. I'd agree that it would be difficult if the shoes weren't too small or faulty. But the fact that they cut you is a fault on its own =]

Yes definitely try and get your money back. I have been in the same posiiton myself and I got an exchange not a refund.

Thanks guys will give it a try. I'm not going to be able to make it to the shop until next week but it should still be within 28 days do you think that'll be ok?

I suspect this must be an age old problem and show shops must see it time and again. And we all know about women and their love of their shoes! Since shoes and their comfort and wearability are uniquely important when purchasing, you could say that the shoes 'are not fit for purpose' and therefore a refund or exchange should be sought. It all depends on the shop's refund policy but whatever they say, you should make a claim that the shoes are not fit for purpose and you are rejecting them and request consideration of a refund or exchange. If you make sure everyone in the shop hears your statement ( wait until it's full ), then they would not wosh you to make further fuss!

Hi LP, definitely!

As Snoopy rightly says, the shoes are clearly 'not fit for the purpose', something you couldn't have been aware of just by trying them on in the shop.

Go back to the shop as soon as possible, preferably while your feet still show the proof, and ask for a refund. Be calm and polite, but hold your ground!
