Hi all,

Someone from the production company that makes Superscrimpers got in touch today to ask whether I'd let the money.co.uk community know about the following:

Channel 4's Superscrimpers Waste Not Want Not is looking for people who could do with cutting back and achieving a healthier bank balance!

Do you think as a household you waste money - but you don't know how to stop?
Do you fancy learning some clever money-saving tips?

If you would love to stop wasting money and start saving it call Cheryl Jackson NOW on 02082224378 or email cheryl.jackson@endemoluk.com

I thought I'd pass it on in case it's of interest.

Hannah

Wow, Hannah, we must be getting influential if the people from the telly want to talk to us!

I'd really love to be able to phone them but we never waste any money - drat!

by Feline123, 1 year ago

Exciting but also ironic! Most of the forum contributors have spent six/seven months or so on this site, we've all haggled the best deals on utilities, insurance and everything else, we've drawn up our budgets and are sticking to them and we've started and are progressing through our goals, some have achieved some goals already, so it's ironic and unfortunate that Superscrimpers need "people who could do with cutting back" and people who "think as a household they waste money, but don't know how to stop" ...... a few months ago I guess we'd all have been ideal candidates, but we could probably teach them a thing or two now!

by wendiew, 1 year ago

Thanks, Hannah.

Good point, wendiew! But there may very well be some members who'd benefit...present company excluded of course! :-)

Actually, I watched the second programme tonight, and the short section on credit cards was punchy and very to the point! Perfectly intelligent people don't always realise just how much their credit card is costing them. I thought the programme made the point excellently.

I did mean to watch it but something came up, I did wonder if it would have any fresh angle or if it would be a re hash of stuff other programmes have covered? What night is it on again, and also does the invite mean going on telly?

How does one interact with the money.co.uk team, and what do folk contact Hannah and team about?

by instinct, 1 year ago

It's on wednesday evenings, instinct, Ch 4, 8.30 to 9pm. Wouldn't matter if you've missed some, each prog is ok on its own, it doesn't follow on from the last episode.

I would think they are looking for people who are willing to actually be on the tv.

You can talk to the money.co.uk team by clicking on the 'contact us' link at the bottom of every page. Scroll right down to the very bottom of this page, instinct, and you'll see it.

Hmm I used to be a superscrimper but now I have a job im sort of a Demi-scrimper. Not enough time to scrimp now!

Wonder if I still qualify
Friend of mine nicks rolls of toilet paper from his local gym saves a fortune but i think he would probably end up on crimewatch rather than superscrimpers if he put an application in.
lol

Lol, Omen! That is naughty...although he's probably paying for it through his gym membership fees.

Our local Co-op has had some good deals on loo paper recently, I now have a Berlin Wall made out of loo roll packs in my spare bedroom! ;-)

by fruitcake, 7 months ago

Hi, fruits, how is it that as soon as Omen rears his head after a long lamented absence, I need the Tena Pants again?!

by Feline123, 7 months ago

Just being overworked no more late nights till 4am on the forum - usually get in from the gym , make a meal , bit of telly and straight to bed this job is kneckering me - no more easy nights!

by Omendata, 7 months ago

Bummer when was it on!
Dash it sounds good just the sort of thing i like!!!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

No I missed it, despite several reminders from my mum! If anyone knows if there's a repeat on any time I'd love to know..... well - only if it's worth watching. Was it any good fruitcake?

by wendiew, 1 year ago

me too!

by instinct, 1 year ago

Just realised, its Friday, so that means I've missed the second one as well! Hopeless :(

by wendiew, 1 year ago

No, but I wish I had! Might try and catch up on it on 4-oD.

by Feline123, 1 year ago

Omen, it's on Channel 4 Wednesdays 8.30 to 9pm. Series of 6 progs. Feline's probably right about it being on catch up on 4-oD.

I'd have preferred a longer show, I think, wendiew, but I liked it, it's a bit quirky! It looked at a family that were incredibly wasteful with their money, and gave lots of money saving hints, tips etc from others. Watch out for the 'Lady' and she is a 'Lady' as in titled, who lives on next to nothing! She even makes nettle pasta!

by fruitcake, 1 year ago

Carrying on from the sex thread - All you girls think about is a longer one!

Then when you get a longer one you get bored as its too long!
lol

Show sounds great though - 4OD - Wonder if I can get that on my box???

Have to wind it up a bit more or put a new elastic band in the back!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

Thanks fruitcake - I'll try to remember next weeks!

by wendiew, 1 year ago

It's not the length that matters, Omen, as you well know.

by Feline123, 1 year ago

Sure its how thick you are that counts!

In which case David Cameron must be fantastic!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

lol, Omen! I've never fancied thick men, but I shall look at this in a different light in future.

by Feline123, 1 year ago

Completely missed it...

But will watch it on 4OD as it retains shows for 4 weeks after broadcast, and often permanently in the case of shows made by C4 and E4 - check out Misfits, The In Betweeners, Skins, Shameless, Black Books, Spaced, Father Ted and The IT Crowd, all series are available on an ongoing basis.

by G-Man, 1 year ago

I will do that too, G-Man. Catch-up TV is so good.

by Feline123, 1 year ago

Yeah feline thats because most of the time tv is so bad¬

Fantastic documentary was on again tonight - last week it was snakes this week elephants monkeys and allsorts very interesting - Myths Magic and Monsters absolutely 10/10 entertainment and before it Civilization: Is the West History? another excellent documentary!!!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

Omen, you mentioned the 'snake' word again when I'd just about forgotten the last discussion on s****s!

by Feline123, 1 year ago

Yep, catch up TV is awesome. I've not yet watched the in betweeners or shameless let alone super scrimpers, but somehow I'll have to fit it in :)

by G-Man, 1 year ago

I love The Inbetweeners...Neil is my fave character, he's just so funny...and so real!

by fruitcake, 1 year ago

Just watched it cant believe that pair earning 100 grand a year and are spending too much.

Thats just disgusting and the syptom of the spend now think later mentality.

Couldnt believe it when he said he only wanted the fuel guzzler 4x4 because it was big and obviously makes him feel like a big man on the road!
lol

Starnge very strange they are usually the type of family that are the ones buzzing round the yellow ticket cheapo night at every supermarket under the sun!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

Yes, Omen, I found that family shocking, and they had no idea how wasteful they were being, terrible example for their kids.

The bloke's face when he was given the little car to use was a picture!

by fruitcake, 1 year ago

No havent seen it either will try and see it though.
