Anyone used EMusic.com?

by , 1 year agoClosed Question

I download the odd single or album from places such as Amazon or Digital7 but even a decent album is around £7.99 or around 79p for an individual track.

While seeking some MP3 downloads by an artist called Eamon Daley ( does some fabulous covers of Elvis ballads ), I have sourced these at Emusic.com which I gather is a subscription service where the eMusic plans start at £9.99 per month, and songs start at just 42p each - that's up to 24 downloads per month!

Can anyone confirm that the download costs are actually built in and up to the monthly subscription? And is this a trusted and established source like Amazon?

I have no direct personal experience of eMusic.com, Snoops, but I would suggest you google for customer reviews of the site. Here's the Review Centre reviews on it, not too impressive I have to say...

Thank you Fruitcake for finding that link for me. As you say, the reviews are not great and the word scam seems to take pride of place in them. Quite frankly I would rather stay put with Amazon and Download7 ( the download service for Spotify.com ). At least with Amazon and Digital7 the whole system is very transparent from the start. Sometimes cheapness does not equal better.

You're welcome, Snoops, and you're right, sometimes paying a little more is worth it.

Update on this one! My daughter downloaded both Eamon Daley albums for me from Tesco would you believe. Apparently there was a £3 discount for downloading two albums at once so in this case every little did help! Have to admit, I didn't know that Tesco did digital music. You watch, they have in-store estate agencies and solcitors next.

Glad you got your albums, Snoops! I didn't know Tesco did music downloads either, but as you say, it's almost a case of what don't Tesco do these days?! They are trying to take over the world, I think. :-)

'Unearthingly' ? .... that's a Snoopism, Fruitcake. and I am always coming out with them. I have one close friend that has actually started a notebook on me. Keeps it interesting though. If you're a lucky girl, I may slip the odd one your way in the future ...... :-)

Snoops, for once you have rendered me speechless!

This friend that has started the notebook on you...is he or she a member of your local constabulary?! ;-)

I use Napster Snoopy, I think they do an intro offer of £5 a month for unlimited streaming plus some downloads.
