For instance I remember my Mum used to ask in the butchers for 2lbs of steak minced, rather than steak mince. She would see them mince it in front of her.

Also it is a good idea when approaching the delicatessen counter every time you shop, to save time and money by asking straight away e.g "which ham they have on promotion this week"?

My grandma always asked for a piece of fat to go with her beef joint, as they did not charge but if you buy with it on your meat you pay more!!
