Does anyone have a list of websites where they can download items for free? E.g. games, music etc. And are there any catches?

I often use http://beemp3.com/ to download free mp3 music. So far I haven't had to give my email address or register - so the site is excellent and absolutely free. Anyone any other similar examples they would like to share?

Dont use it on its own - download Peerguardian (It protects you and your pc from prying eyes).

Would take a long time to explain all the settings in utorrent.

I use it mainly to download things like Ubuntu , Microsoft demos and freebies if they are too large to download without a cutoff.

How do you mean you get "fake"?

No you need to click only the download torrent box.
You click the movie you want , then look for one that has been recommended with a thumbs up - that means it isnt fake - if lots of people are sharing it it will download faster.

It will open small file .torrent.

Yes it is illegal and if you dont have peerguardian running you could get into trouble.
