I must admit I bought a few small gifts for my close family members and limited myself to just the one for each of them.
I was strict this year and made a list of various peoples requests and got stuck in and yes I was pleased and relieved that they were good quality and arrived on time.
Knowing beforehand what I was actually shopping for helped and saved me loads of valuable time and I think a little money.
So how did you cope with your shopping and the weather, hopefully no mishaps with either?
I had every good intention to plan and do my Xmas shopping on line this year but simply ran out of time to do it. And the snow made me think that delivery would be too late for Xmas. I guess it's also pertinent if you are at home a lot so that deliveries can be safely seen in, otherwise things simply have to be left in the porch. I will no doubt have a better plan next year! But what I like about Xmas shopping on line is that it allows you to discipline yourself with money and not be tempted by everything else as you swan around the shops. You can plan on something for everybody and leave it at that ... no crowds to endure, fuel to pay for, expensive parking or expensive coffees to buy! But I do shop online for presents throughout the year ... and what a way to search for best prices as well. Sure you need to know exactly what to look for but then people can send you links to look at and at least you know pretty much what they want. But even buying for people where a gift is difficult to match can be best done on line ... all you have to do is Google 'gift ideas' and you will be surprised what comes up. There's a whole world of gift ideas out there just waiting to be searched for. And another useful gift idea for someone who 'has everything' is to buy them something online that can be personalised .. just search for personalised gifts. Perhaps a personalised mug or stylish pen. I have even given personalised mouse mats that always go down well. One year, I was given a monogrammed letter opener ... now how useful that has been with all of the stuff that comes through the letter box!
I ordered a few things from Marks and Spencers online, and was a bit late ordering so was doubtful they would arrive in time. When I placed the order they said delivery would be by the 23rd but everything arrived much sooner, despite the weather. I'm very impressed with the M&S ordering and delivery service and would use them again. My son and partner also bought some things online, all but one item arrived just in the nick of time on christmas eve. The one missing item is something my son has ordered from Amazon - today is the 29th and no sign of it yet.
Thanks Wendiew, hubby ordered a DVD from Amazon which took three weeks to arrive, which is very unusual for them so we requested a refund which they promptly gave.
We now have to decide whether to keep and pay for the late item or return it.
I shopped online, yes. I do pretty much all of my shopping online, always, so Christmas gifts are no different.
It gives me control, and allows me to shop around, and I don't have to deal with crowds. Shopping is always easier without other people. :p
I always do my Christmas shopping online, actually I do virtually all my shopping online anyway, but this year I didn't, simply because of the snow potentially delaying the deliveries.
I did some shopping online but not alot of it. I prefer to go into the shops and have a look around. I did buy some bulkier things online to save carrying them home.

Thanks Snoopy, yes I like Google gift ideas and also like the sound of your personalised items, great ideas for future gifts.
Yes I could do with a letter opener too, might as well see what's in the mail before it hits the recycling bin.
