Wendiew's free gadgets is often on there as are many other things.

It also has a sister site magiccompetitions if anyone is feeling like becoming a professional comper!

I just got two back medical heat packs, the new gillette mach xxxxxxxx razor, some cat food and a small box of chocolates all for free its an excellent site I can highyl recommend it.

I got the shower saver and to be honest it does work i dont notice a difference in my shower but if it saves the planet every little bit counts!

Crazy is right I got the remote eye plug and its great for old folks - I gave mine to my elders and betters saves bending down at night to pull all those plugs out of the wall!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

Yes the socket with the remote eye is great no more unplugging and switching everything off now at night. Water saver is only useful for the English as the Scots dont pay for their water, lucky devils!

by Crazycarole, 1 year ago

Is that true that the Scots don't pay for water?! Why not and who does pay for it, the government??????

by roseangel, 1 year ago

I think that England is the same as here in Wales. There's a 'flat' rate charged per year for mains water supply and another charge added for waste water/sewage. The exception is if you have a water meter, then it is beneficial to use as little water as possible as you pay for what you use. No harm in using a water saving gadget though, cut down on wastage........ or does that just give the water companies bigger profits??? Hmmmm. I don't know how it works in Scotland but would be interesting to know.

by wendiew, 1 year ago

Are you sure about that, Crazycarole? I thought you paid for your water/sewerage in Scotland through rates added to your Council Tax? One thing is for sure though, Scottish water is lovely, clear and soft, not like the horrid English water!

We do have a water tax added to council tax its about £171 a year on a band D property with sewerage coming in at £208.80 a year.

What I think Crazy means is ours is not metered - thats a nightmare - With my hand washing OCD I go through about 100 gallons a day so it would rook me something awful to have a meter hehe
>;o)

Seriously though Scottish water is one of the things i look forward to when i come home from Spain or Italy or England etc.

I did get a rather interesting email about water and the little known fact that our sewage plants cannot extract all of the nasties in water 100% which i will paste below.Quite an eye-opener!!!

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine...
And those who don't and are always
seen with a bottle of water in their hand.

As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 litre of water each day,
At the end of the year we would have absorbed
More than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria
Found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop..

However,
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
Because alcohol has to go through a purification process
Of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of s***.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:
I'm doing it as a public service!

What a splendid and informative bit of info for which I thank you (even though you said there is no need). I might never drink water again though, now please excuse me whilst I pop down to the off license.

And apparently bottled water has even more bacteria in it! So you can pay through the nose to be poisoned if you want to.

by fruitcake, 1 year ago

And apparently its better to buy glass bottles as plastic bottles usually recycled leach chemicals into the water - so bye bye Evian etc.

Personally I've always found bottled water to be a joke! Usually bought by yuppies or trendy types that like to show it off to everyone at the gym!

by Omendata, 1 year ago

And more than a few of those fill their Evian bottles up with tap water!

A bit like the (would be) posh ladees round here who go to lidl/asda etc with Marks And Spencers bags so as not to be "embarrassed".

Thank you, wendiew, very useful!

Thanks for that Wendiew, yes the link works fine. I like the little water gizmo and Omendata's link has some interesting info. too.
