Been taken from full-time to part-time at work, and with my wage falling am not able to afford my phone bill any more. Is there a way I can get my provider to reduce the phone bill? I have heard of some people managing to lower the tariff when they want to cancel the contract but I don't want to go this far. Any suggestions?
Probably depends on who your contract is with. I'm with Orange and I've always found them quite open to negotiation if your tariff is no longer suitable for you for any reason. In fact, they contact you every six months anyway to make sure your current tariff is still the best for you. I would suggest you contact your service provider and explain what your situation is. Tell them that you're happy with them and that you don't want to cancel the contract, but you may have to if they can't offer you a lower tariff. If you have been with them for a long time, mention it, and ask if they are willing to offer you a discretionary loyalty discount.
I have just been considering reducing my tariff. I am with o2 and went online and viewed my bills from the last 2years. I realised that I'm not using all the minutes that I'm paying for so I'm going to move to a slightly cheaper tariff. It should be easy to move down a tariff but I'm pretty sure that you can only reduce it to the next one down from the one you're already on once a month.
I just guess that Vodafone won't budge then
I changed my tariff about 4months ago when i changed my contract. I now get 500 minutes to any number every month plus 5000 minutes to same network every month. Also get unlimited texts. I use my mobile during the day so i dont use the landline, and then in the evening use landline as get free calls. For me it works well plus i didnt change the amount i pay every month just the contents! Hope you can find something.
