I got an ad for cheap beauty treatments at the local college through the door and was wondering whether it's worth a go as presumably it'll be trainees doing it. Should I give it a go or will I just end up wishing I'd gone to a regular beauty salon?
Surely its worth a try! How bad can they be? I presume if it is at a college they would be supervised and some treatments must be reasonably easy to get right?! I say go for it, anything is worth trying once. Good luck
Hi Ginny, yes there will be trainees and also tutors supervising.
I doubt they would start any procedure without you or tutors consent.
I would give it a try, let us know how you get on.
Hi Ginny
All students are fully supervised by an experienced and qualfied member of staff at all times, and go through all the Health & Safety stuff before they begin. I was a manager in a College and often went for an eyelash tint/facial etc when couldn't get to a salon. It DOES take longer though, as they are learning, so allow plenty of extra time. Having said that,it's good value for money, especially when they offer pamper days (around assessment time in Feb-Mar!)
Thanks for that. Will give them a call and see how I get on. Might go for something safe like a manicure before I try anything too adventurous. Think it's only about £3.50 so that would be amazing.
I would give it a go. They have to learn and are going to be supervised - just make sure that you question anything that you are not happy with. Please report back - would be interested to hear how it goes.
I would definitely give it a go. A friend's daughter was training to be a hairdresser a few years ago and worked at a local salon that took on trainees from the college and they used to offer special discounts if you were prepared to let them cut/colour your hair. They were fully supervised and I went several times and never came away disappointed.
Hi GinnyB
I have been to college beauty salons in the past and everybody is right, they are fully supervised. If at any time you are unhappy with everything than say. Don't go for anything that can't be undone (so don't go for a haircut, or hair colour etc) and then enjoy.
I had a lovely time - keep the conversation light (as the girl I had was unhappy about something and proceeded to tell me all about it!) Or then that - Excellent and reasonably priced.
Of course give it a go. All great stylists start out by having to learn. they ain't born with it.
Yes, I've been to the college for facials and for waxing in the past. It's good value but it does take longer as others have said. But all the trainees are fully supervised and they aren't let loose on clients until they are reasonably proficient so you should be OK.
Got to be worth try as they'll be supervised, and won't be let loose until they are fully competent. They will of course take longer, and may not be as confident and chatty as you are used to, but this will grow in time
