I currently have a Nectar card which is now opening up better accessibility in gaining and spending points so I'm quite pleased with that.
I also have a Tesco card which in early December will be depreciating in value re points gained for groceries, so not so good.
I wonder if you have any cards and do you think they are worth having?
Hi Lillie
I too, have a few loyalty cards - Nectar, Tesco, Boots, Iceland (which I have and haven't used), All Star (fuel reward card - My hubby is HGV so lucky me!) and my credit card awards points which can be exchanged for all kinds of things - but I have my eye on M&S vouchers.
I don't think that any of them are better because they offer such different things, but it is nice to get something for things you would be getting anyway!
I recently applied for the Capital One World Mastercard http://www.money.co.uk/credit-cards/credit-card-details/Capital-One/World-MasterCard.htm - as it offers 1% cashback on ALL purchases with no restrictions! And of course you can use it with your fave high street layalty card (which I don't have).
They all have their uses! I have tesco, nectar, iceland, boots, bite, subway and starbucks cards in active use, and as MrWallet points out, always use my CapitalOne 1% cashback card alongside them.
I think that the Boots loyalty scheme is really good. I buy so many toiletries, medicine, holiday stuff etc from there that its great to build up points and then be able to redeem them against everyday items that I know I will use.
Once you have a loyalty card with them they also send you out vouchers to get double points or extra points with certain brands.
I have Boots, Tesco, Nectar, Iceland (rarely used), and one for a chain of hairdressers that is relatively local to me, so not much use to others. Boots is by far the best one in my opinion, but I do buy quite a lot from them as there's no Superdrug or other cheaper chemist type shop near me.
I have the usual ones too...Boots, Tesco, Nectar. I'm pleased to get something back on my shopping no matter how small - in these testing times every penny counts. I'd rather it is in my pocket than theirs!
I have both the Tesco and Sainsbury's reward cards which I do think are worth having. I save up all my Nectar points and use them at the end of the year to go towards my Christmas food shopping. I don't do my main shop there now but do always get my petrol from there as it is usually the cheapest place to buy fuel. The points do add up but the amount you require for some of the offers is ridiculous and I would rather have the money off my shopping bill. I do have a Boots card too but it is rarely used as I think it is very expensive to shop there even when they have offers on. Most of my toiletries are bought at Home Bargains at a fraction of the price. I do think the reward cards are worth having though if you are shopping wisely in the first place. There is no point saving them if you are paying over the odds for goods that you can get cheaper elsewhere.
I do appreciate your point, frenchwoodgirl, about reward cards and prices, but many of us don't have cheaper chemists, for example, nearby. I've never heard of Home Bargains, so did a check on its website, and it has no store anywhere near me.
I have a range of loyalty cards but think that the Boots card is probably the best in terms of redemption value. By the way, you get 1000 points if you spend £50 at Boots from tomorrow (19th Nov) until Sunday - that's equivalent to a 20 percent discount so good if you want to buy some Christmas presents or stock up on cold remedies fo the winter.

Thanks Vettriano yes you are lucky, all those extra points.
My Hubby gets M&S vouchers from work as a bonus at Christmas and gives them to me to have a little splurge in the sales, I guess I'm lucky too.
Thank you so much for choosing mine as the best answer Lillie.
