Hello Jokerwild,
Sorry to hear you can't afford to run a car at the moment, there are more alternatives than most people think to owning a car.
I'm just putting the finishing touches on a guide outlining some other ways of travelling that could be cheaper than owning a car.
It should be included in the newsletter tomorrow afternoon so keep a look out and hopefully it might help you find a cheaper way to travel!
I do feel for you, jokerwild, would you consider a car share scheme like National CarShare? You can use it for one-off journeys, so could get to interviews etc, or for regular journeys. You can opt to be a passenger only.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. I would try advertising locally say your corner shop for car sharing and offer to pay a share towards the journey, that has to be so much cheaper than running a car, greener too. Good luck.
im looking for a job if i had a job i would be able to afford to run my car but have to get the job first. and now i no longer can run my car cant get to where the jobs are read and understand before makeing student like comments
do any of you live in this world or are you all like the government fantasy land
'Student like', oh it's a long time since I was one of those.
I'll try again. How about you advertise yourself in your local area as a person who is willing to do odd jobs ie window cleaning, gardening, anything so you can save up and move to the town or city where you will have a better chance of getting interviews.
I know it's only pin money to start off with but if you are frugal it will build and enable you to move into a town or city.
Also a future employer will take note of your efforts and hopefully reward you with a position that suits you.
this aint fantasy land buying and selling homes and moveing cost money more than i would make doing odd jobs but you still sound like a student with your unrealistc comments
Hi, sorry to hear you are unable to run your car, things are so hard arent they? As stated in the other answers below - could you try car sharing? A couple of friends of mine did it for a 60 mile round trip and it worked really well for them. They felt the savings were worthwhile and they didnt end up driving all the time either which they would have if they carried on independently. Hope you can sort something out.
wake up who am i supposed to car share with to go to an interveiw
I didnt mean to the interview i meant once you got a job! Was trying to be postive for you!
sorry if you feel i was being harsh but unfortunatly its a catch 22 need car to get job no job no car keep trying to get different jobs so i dont need a car but no 1 wants to let you in if you have not done the job before
Sure i understand, i hope things work out for you and some good luck comes your way.
Sounds to me like you have 2 options.
1) get a job in another line of work nearer home (at least until you can afford to get a car)
2) move to where the jobs are
trying to get job in another line but they dont let you in unless you got exactly what they want, they dont want to train people to do the job. as for the other stupid comment move to where the jobs are wake up get real the cost of moveing means this aint no option
OK how about selling the car and getting a motor bike or scooter?

well there is not a better way when the jobs you want are all out the way unless you think a ponny and trap maybe or maybe a bit of star trek magic get real cars were invented to get us around and there is no better way
Yes, you do have a point. My husband has no choice but to drive to work - I'm lucky in that I can walk (although that certainly seems less appealing this time of year!)
