I'm thinking January sales may be good, but when does VAT go up? Also the motion plus controllers have come out, should i wait till they come with the console? (don't want a red one!)
Anyone know any good deals? I seen a few deals that don't save you much money and one where buying the items individually saves you 48p!
My first instinct would be to say get it before Christmas as VAT goes up on 1st January. However, I'm sure there will be lots of 'We pay the VAT' type offers in the January sales.
I reckon the reduction in the sales will be greater than the increase of 2.5% in the VAT.
Plus, as you say, you've got from Boxing day until 1st Jan to have the best of both worlds.
Don't forget to use pricerunner and kelkoo to compare prices and a cashback site like topcashback to make the purchase if you do it online.
If it were me, I'd also be considering how much use/enjoyment I'd get using it over the Christmas period, when I assume you'll have some time of work?
thats true, i think i may be running around so much over the holidays that i wouldn't miss it!
IF U STILL TALKING HERE ABOUT BUYING THE WII, IT'S BRILL !!!! IT CUD ENCOURAGE MATES ROUND TO COMPETE AGAINST, IT'S GREAT FOR ALL AGES.
If you are also in the market for a new mobile phone it may be worth checking out getting a free Wii when you take out a mobile phone contract. I did this earlier this year as I wanted to get a contract phone for my daughter for when she started secondary school. She also wanted a Wii.....I got her a very basic mobile phone on contract with Vodafone through www.mobiles.co.uk and she got a free Wii with the Sports Resort game thrown in. Also went through Quidco and got £50 cash back.
The VAT goes up in January but it is only a small amount - £2.50 in every £100. Personally i think i would wait till nearer Xmas as some retailers might have offers on. You could always ask for money/vouchers for Xmas and buy it with those?
I wouldn't expect that a Wii will necessarily be in the sales at all. I should think buying will be strong leading up to Christmas and they may have no need to discount at all.
Hi I would get it for Christmas, yes the VAT goes on straight away in January.
If you shop around now there are some good bargains to be had and don't forget to haggle you may even get a better deal.
I had this dilemma a couple of years ago when I wanted to treat myself to an iPod Touch ( by the way, the best piece of kit I have ever bought! ). I felt that sales would be flat in January and February and I would get a steal but you know what? The price never ever fell ( apart from the inclusion of supplied accessories ) because demand was always high throughout the year. I would suspect this is the same with the Nintendo Wii, especially as it is one of the cheaper game consoles on the market. I do not own a games console but was recently attracted to the red Wii package offered by Asda ( I was a real fan of Super Mario back in the eighties! ) and Asda are selling this somewhat cheaper than most other outlets. But, alas, it is always sold out!
If I was you, I would go for it now, before the Xmas rush gets too intense, and enjoy it through the holiday!
the accesories thing is a good point as the red wii comes with an updated controller where the others don't, not sure i want a red one though so maybe the others will adapt this better controller into its deals after christmas.
Lately it has been in favour to shop around first during oct and nov, Asda and Argos and Morrisons ad good prices on the wii + accesories. For the games i.e Wii games and DSi games Asda seem cheepest at mo. In my experience these r the best 2 months to buy.The sales in Jan im not sure about. December - usually this month most prices r whacked up.The t.v. buying and bidding channels are very good too.Watch out for cost of phone call and p&p, think best to use cpu wen buying frm live programmes.
GOOD LUCK !!! BHOPE U GET VALUE FOR MONEY!!!
I would definitely get it now before the VAT increases. I have already seen some good bundles around. HMV are doing a black Wii console and games bundle for less money than I paid for getting just the console alone 2years ago! I'd look for a bundle that includes Mario Kart as it is by far the best game on the Wii.
If you would like to purchase a second hand one which has not been used much then let me know, I can provide you all the details, games and agree a price if interested. could save you money in the long run.
