What has happened to the £30 daily prize ....

by , 1 year agoClosed Question

.... for the best post of the day on Money.co.uk? It was a great incentive to be creative, accurate and above all helpful in the contributions made here but alas seems to have been dropped. Oh my, what a shame! Anyone else agree?

The Daily prize ended last Friday. This doesn't seem to have been announced on the site anywhere though, but it was mentioned in an email I received from money.co.uk

Sorry, correction. The email I got was dated 29th October and it mentioned that the last ever Daily prize was on 28th.

I don't agree that it was a great incentive. I try to be accurate and helpful in my posts because they SHOULD be accurate and helpful, and there's no point in posting otherwise. The £30 of course was a nice little extra for those who got it, but it wasn't a necessary one and if it has been dropped (I don't know if this is the case or if it's just not announced in public at the moment), then I say fair enough.

Fair point but it was still a very nice touch on what is an already excellent site for discussion and extensive money orientated information. I can only try and be accurate about what I actually know about, the rest is simply personal opinion. I have been awarded two daily prizes, one was for what I know about and have extensive experience in, the other was simply a commended personal opinion. As you point out, this is not a competition but nevertheless a daily cash prize is a rare commodity in the current difficult times

In truth, having read the site of late and contributed to it, I would struggle to find an item that would warrant paying £30 for! Is it just me or do others feel the board has quietened down of late and somewhat stagnated?

And that has been with the £30 Daily Prize!!

Parchester - the forum has a lot of questions that are very similar in nature and certainly is much quieter than it was when running in beta and many of the contributors had their eyes on the prizes, but there is still value in the questions and answers. I suppose that many people using mymoney.co.uk get the answers they want from the guides on this site and don't need to ask a question.
It's a pity the £30 incentive has gone. A number of regular contributors give full and knowledgeable answers and deserve something in return for building up a knowledge base on the site.

I agree with Parchester the site has slowed down somewhat to when it was in Beta, but it was all a bit manic.

I actually agree with everybody!!!

Yes, the daily prize was brilliant but not totally necessary. But it would be nice to know what's happened to it.

It was a bit weird that it just vanished like that, but I guess we shouldn't really need prize incentive.

by Kyra1, 1 year ago

Kyra you are right, we don't need the incentive of a daily cash prize. But once you've won one for a concerted effort, it's always nice to aim for another!

by Snoopy48, 1 year ago

Oh, I agree, and I had hoped one of my answers would be good enough (having a tangible reward makes you feel great), but sadly it wasn't to be...

I hadn't realised it had stopped Snoopy...been off having a nice break in Portugal over the last week and to me it is business as usual, prize or no prize. It has been good catching up on everyone's posts and tips and getting up to speed on all the financial news I have been totally oblivious to over the last week!!

I don't know, Snoopy48, is there a £30 prize for knowing the answer? ;-)

Now I now it was 'limited edition' like everything else in life! I still think it was a great incentive, despite what people have said. Cherry on an otherwise yummy cake, I say!
