As a former HR professional, I was constantly asked by my then employees for letters, which effectively said that they were losing their jobs in order to get out of their David Lloyd contracts. In some cases and for some staff this was quite clairvoyant of them!! So I wasn't lying!

Depending on what the change is in your personal circumstances this might aid you in cancelling your contract. You will have to explain the situation and then throw yourself at their mercy! It is worth looking in detail at any cancellation clauses in the contract but, if my memory serves me well, they don't have any.
