I've got to sell me car in 2 weeks, but I was wondering what the options were beyond ebay or an ad in the local paper? I obviously want to get the best price possible!
Autotrader always seems very popular and you can also advertise online. I also see so many people advertising their car privately by putting a large notice in a couple of the windows. No advertising costs this way but I can't say how much response you would get. I would also suggest checking out the market value of your car through Glass's used car prices so you are advertising it at a realistic price for its age and condition.
sold mine on ebay within 3 day's and it was so easy
How much does it cost to advertise on ebay or Autotrader?
I believe Autotrader pricing is based on the value of the vehicle sold and also the options you choose (e.g number of weeks and if you want it online and the printed book - do they still do this??!) Not sure about ebay as think they have a different pricing structure from the rest of the site...
Hi MrWallet
I know it sounds a bit simple but have you tried asking family and friends if they know of anybody looking for a new car - Ebay, Autotrader are excellent options if you have tried everything else but you will pay for it, whereas if you sell to someone you know that won't cost you anything.
Never underestimate your local paper and local shop windows -people who live close by are more likely to turn up to look at it.
Try and exhaust old school methods before spending out money on advertising.
