Is anyone else finding that T K Maxx isn't the bargain basement designer heaven it used to be? Check www.outnet.com if so

Not that I have the money to spend on even the 85% discounted designer clobber at the moment, but there does appear to be some good stuff on there...

I have to disagree, I have amazing buys from TK Maxx, and some recent as well. I bought a pair of Tommy Hilfiger shorts for £10 and a pair of Tommy Hilfiger trousers for £15 that fit me great as well (bonus of course) - it was a coincidence that it happened to be that brand both of them.

And I have bought a couple of Roxy tops this summer that are absolutely gorgeous for £10 each.

Oh! And my best buy of all. I got a Diesel sleveless cardigan that was £150 originally for £12, and it so stylish as well. Total bargain.

Mind you, I do browse around but sometimes I just stumble the best find in 10min.

And it has linen scarfs handmade in India that are absolutely gorgeous, I found one that was gorgeous for £7 the other day!!

So, as you can tell, I am a TK Maxx fan :)

hmm, which part of the country are you in? ;o) Sounds like the T K Maxx near you is a darned site better than the two that are nearish me... and lovely that you found such great stuff, my last fab purchase was a suit from Oasis that had been £110 that I got for £35...

I have several TK Maxx quite handy, which helps, and my sister lives abroad and when she comes to visit it is her favourite London sightseeing places so that is when I go, as she exhausts me spending hours and hours from one to the next, so I have enough until her following visit :)

I agree that a lot of stuff in TK Maxx is a bit iffy these days. maybe designer bargains are there, but I never see them. I do like some of there household goods however - its great for cheap good quality bedding and towels if you are not set on everything matching. Will look at outnet - thanks.

I to find the bedding can be good offers not to fussed on everthing matching i like the contrast

I find a lot of their clothing to be tat. It may have a designer label attached to it but that doesn't make it a quality product it makes it a product with a quality label on it!

I agree not all designer things are always nice

by smartcar, 1 year ago

no some designer stuff is crap, I agree!

by Kyra1, 1 year ago

yeah i check both of them out hoping for an incredible good deal! never very much luck though! :(

i agree nothing for me in the clothing it feels like a jumble sale most of the time we got 2 nice throws for the bed a few weeks ago at a very good price. So not all bad

by smartcar, 1 year ago

I've always found TK Maxx a bit like a jumble sale! You have to spend ages rummaging through to find anything that's nice and not stupidly expensive (I do consider it expensive despite the discounts).

It used to be great. I once got an absolutely gorgeous Nicole Fahri jacket for £67 (down from £200 I think it was). I still wear it and it is one of my best buys ever... but yes, it was a jumble sale, even back then!

Kyra1 - it used to be better than it is now. I find that you have to look at everything on the rails and have a clear idea of what you're looking for. The trouble I find, is that with so many different makes I can buy three different skirts (for example) and they're all different sizes! But I agree that it is still good value for other things like towels, bedding, and other hardware stuff.

I agree with the fact that it's like going into a jumble sale in that shop. We don't bother any more cos we know we are going to have spend ages trawling through all the piles of clothes in the hope of finding something good. Not worth it.

by scottie, 1 year ago

Yeah, if it was a case of 'there will definitely be something great' I would do it once in a while, but if it is only a hope it isn't worth it...

Oh, and regarding to outnet.com I don't that it is that good personally. There are better places out there in my opinion. Only that the outnet organises a £1 sale of designer items once a year but it is crazy, so busy that the site keeps crashing and so on, so I have never been lucky myself but it is done.

by palandraca, 1 year ago

I can't stand trawling through al the rails in TKMaxx. There's always so much dross I can't be bothered to find anything that may be great.

by roseangel, 1 year ago

I can be bothered!! Have had some really good bargains from TK Maxx and don't really bother shopping anywhere else. It is very rare that I find anyone wearing the same as me and I absolutely love it for that and always head for the sale rails before anywhere else. I have a fantastic Jean Paul Gaultier white denim jacket that I bought about 5 years ago for £50 and lots of Ralph Lauren/Burberry clothes that I have bought at a fraction of the price that I could not normally afford to buy.....they may be previous seasons but I love it!!

by frenchwoodgirl, 1 year ago

Maybe I should persevere with it then. I'm not buying any clothes at the moment though no matter how much of a bargain they may be.

by roseangel, 1 year ago

hiya Roseangel, that is a seriously sensible attitude. I was stunned recently when I was talking with a friend about what she spends on clothes - she was wearing a lovely dress that she had got for £3. I knew she was careful, but hadn't appreciated how thrifty she was. We were out with another friend and wondered around some shops, but she only browsed, and said, with absolute calm, that she didn't need clothes and wasn't buying at the moment - not even if she saw something gorgeous. Earlier in the day she had told us she had just bought her first flat (she is 25 years old). It was a stretch for her, but I guess her careful attitude paid dividends ;o)
