Some companies ignore the mail preference service I think. But I haven't heard of any being taking to court. Have you? Ironically I think that Charities are among the best for sticking to the guideleines. They know that they don't have money to waste sending to someone who does not want their communication. I think that if there was less rubbish mail we would all be better off shareholders because profits wd be bigger.
Well I have just registered, only took a couple of minutes, so it will be interesting to see what happens in the future. As far as I am aware companies don't get fined but you can make a complaint if you are still receiving unsolicited mail by sending them the mail you believe you should not have received. It does state though that it will not stop mail being sent to you if you have requested if previously from a company or if the mail is addressed to 'The Occupier'.
i havent either, i really doubt it would be worth the while to sue them. and yes i agree that charities are the best for not sending unsolicited mail :)
Yes not sure that you could sue, But if they ar flouting guidelines then something shd be done.
yeah i think they supposedly get fined or something :P
We did the same thing and certain mail still slipped through the net. We haven't complained about it because it the companies that have this control not the MPS.
Now we just for some reason only receive mail that isn't addressed to our names or "To the householder"
I think mail that comes that way is acquired more cheaply than names and addresses..so those cos are on a stricter budget. Why do you say the MPS don't have control..do you mean because that is the local stuff and it falls outside guidelines... sorry I am not clear?
From what I read earlier after registering it said that it wouldn't stop mail that was addressed to 'The Occupier' which probably explains why you are still receiving this type of mail. Apparently you also have to re register every 5 years.
MPS are just an organization, they are obviously not the mailing companies. -hence there is only so much control the MPS could enforce
The post office make vast sums delivering flyers and ads you can contact your post depot to stop this.
Oh that is interesting . I wondered where they came via. I must do that.
I've found a lot of junk comes from the Royal Mail, they should concentrate on getting the legitimate mail delivered correctly, we're always getting other people's post!
I have found MPS works pretty well at stopping junk mail as does the Post Office opt out. Be aware the the Post Office opt out of flyers only works for a limited time and you have to call them again when the rubbish starts to come through the letterbox again.
We don't suffer from junk too much, other than that provided by the Royal Mail. We get a lot of unsolicited phone calls though which is worse!
I always say I am just renting and they seem to go away!
I try to be polite and tell them I'm not interested, they then ask why and I refuse to tell them. Usually they hang up which makes me pretty angry as it's incredibly rude especially as they are intruding into my home in the first place.
not really had this problem and found if say on BT Preference scheme cold calls call off immediatley.
What is the BT preference. ..that the telephone preference scheme?I need to do that because lately I have been getting these calls with nobody there. The voice tells you you can get free calls blah... I just hang up. You can't get the number from 1471 either. Infuriating!
The calls with nobody there are from call centres. The computer dials a few numbers at a time on the understanding that not many will be answered. But if someone answers at the same time as your call is made then there's no one to speak to you. Nuts!
I have never heard of any of them being fined or anything. I get loads of junk mail but can't be bothered to tke the companies to task over it and just put it in the bin. Lazy I know.
Needs must sometimes. I just score through name and write moved and put back in the post. No idea if it reaches them!
I hadn't heard of them either. Thanks, =).
