I have come across this website http://www.moonrabbits.co.uk/ and found it very interesting. Basically its a cottage industry in Scotland that make and sell ladies sanitary products. The difference is that these are washable/reusable/enviro friendly as well as money saving! I'm looking with interest but not quite 'sold' yet, hope it's of interest to you too!
Going to jump in and say that I do use the Mooncup myself, and have for about three years.
I know a lot of you are a bit freaked out by it, but it must have saved me around £150 or so (maybe more), and definitely saved me the effort/worry of keeping a stock of 'other' products in. Loads of other benefits, too, but if you can get over the initial disgust I'd really recommend them!
*sneaks away again*
I'm interested, could be the perfect Christmas present for my missus :)
Mark, (It HAD to be you didn't it) please think through that very carefully ... are you absolutely sure that this is what your missus has always wanted for christmas?!?!? :)
I'm sure she would be really chuffed or even over the 'mooncup'. She's going to be a lucky lady this Christmas!
:) lol. Oh how very witty!!!!!!!
not sure it would be a very good xmas gift
Why not? Surely every lady would be really pleased with this as a gift.
Men have absolutely NO IDEA!!!! Mark, take a look at the comments all the girlies have made about this - even us my-moneyites have our money saving limits! C'mon fellow females - help me out here!
I want to be your wife - not! That is a new low! only teasing!
I'm with you wendiew, we might save the pennies, but not for me though
Why wait until Xmas - its only £19.99
So men think this is just fine, but the women are all recoiling in horror ..... isn't that strange! Wonder why that is ..... maybe cos it's not the men who have to use them??? Any ideas anyone??
ahaha, this thread is hilarious, enjoyed reading through them. This is what I enjoy on this site, the witty comments etc, =). Thanks for making me giggle you lot!!
It's quite funny how it is the male population who are liking the idea! I think though if my girlfriend saw your last comment wendiew, she'd try to get me to use it. Ha, good luck!
Hmmm...just had a look Wendie, not sure I am sold either but the 'mooncup' product makes a lot of sense (but messy I would have thought!) so I am not sure if I will be rushing to buy one!
i saw this a few months ago it's a good idea and no doubt you would save money but mmm!don't think it is for me i find that if you buy them in bulk it works out a lot cheaper.
gotta say not for me, but an interesting idea.
So that's 4 out of 4 ladies not convinced, but 1 out of 1 bloke thinks it's great!!! Makes me wonder who they're selling to?!?!?
haha yeah! Men are a gullible audience but surely not even that much? I do hope he?s joking about it as a present!
I am male but couldn't resist a look at this question I don't think that I will be looking at this sight.(LOL)
Yuck! Can't resit looking though. Just hhow is that possible!!!!! No don't go there!
Tis a bit Yuk, shame cos it would be really good if it wasn't so ........... well......... Yuk!!!
there are lots of adverts for this in public toilets. cant say that it is for me though
Ugggh!! I'm all for recyclable and plastic-free, but washable/reusable - noooo thanks!
I couldn't use those, but have considered the moon cup before now, but never taken the plunge to actually buy one.
When you said its not for men I couldn't resist looking at the site and it does look like a good idea - my wife often runs out and having one of these as standby seems a good idea?
Thanks donk, Yes, I can see that there are some good sides, but I (and all the other females who've answered) just can't quite get past the 'Hmmmm, not sure' part of it. Perhaps if you ask your wife she could tell you what she thinks - then you could pass her thoughts on. The men who have answered all seem to be more positive about this than the women - which is interesting.
Well if she runs out its usually at the wrong time (if you know what I mean) and then I have to do the shopping - so this seems a great alternative that she can keep in the house? I think I'll get one from Boots and give it to her. Actually she is away on a training course at the moment so I'll surprise her next week and let you know.
oh blimey. I hope it goes well. If she's less than delighted or utterly disgusted I hereby absolve myself of anything to do with it. On the other hand, if she's super-chuffed I would be delighted to take the credit!! :)
I can see the point of having it as a standby option....
Donk, not sure it will be a surprise as such when she gets home - for me a surprise is something enjoyable and delightful, although it ticks the unexpected box, which can also be considered a surprise :)
Thanks for the warning - maybe I'll ask her first?
Not for me! :S
Thanks for sharing though :)

Thank you for being so brave to share with us what I appreciate is very personal information. I am so pleased that a 'real' person has come forward to recommend this - I have read all the reviews on the mooncup website, but always wonder how real or true they are. You have given me the confidence to go and buy this now, and to give it a try, partly for my own well-being and money saving advantages, but also because I do think that it's time disposables were done away with on environmental grounds. I'm going to give the mooncup a try and I hope that your answer to this question will reassure other members as well.
My sincere thanks to you.
Absolutely no problem. :-)
I think this is very disturbing - you don't recycle sanitary products.
