Does anyone have any thoughts about lottery winning systems, any observations that may be relevant?
It baffles me, and find it quite unbelievable that the probability that the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 are exactly the same as say 4,12,18,22,25,30 (any random 6). Yet it's true!!

Yes, I have a really good system and it means I am a winner every time. I carefully select my numbers using my chosen system of using my pin numbers in different sequence. This sometimes means I need more than one entry. Then I carefully put the payment of £2 on one side to put in the savings account. I have never yet failed to break even and over the years it has made me a winner.
OK so it would be dishonest to let you believe I actually do this but I do occasionally listen to the results to see if my numbers would have won and I have never had cause to wish that I had done otherwise
Nice one Susan, the only real winners are the ones that dont put money on at all, but I couldnt check my numbers if I had forgotten to put my lottery on. Dont think I could handle it if the numbers came up
I used to be like that but as I never buy tickets now unless I am with a group of people and someone suggests it, I would never see it as an opportunity lost, just something that happens to other people.
Was just thinking, maybe someone will come up with an answer that will make us all winners, oh no, I must be becoming delirious.
Good answer Susancrane - you hardly increase your chance of winning Lotto by entering, so your system sounds like a good one to me. I too stopped doing the lottery some time ago and have never seen my 'lucky' numbers come up.
What if your numbers did come up one week!!! Someone has to win it.
During the first few weeks after the launch of the Lottery all those years back, I decided I wouldn't be able to keep doing the Lottery once then twice a week. What if I had regular numbers and they came up on a time I didnt play! I'd be pig-sick as they say. So now, I only ever do a roll-over if I have the cash and only use the lucky-dip function, so my mind is at rest during other lottery days!
They say the numbers are chosen totally randomly, so if that's true, I don't think there can be any winning system. Every choice of numbers must have as much (or as little) chance as any other. The only guaranteed way to win is to buy enough tickets to cover every single permutation of all the numbers, but that would cost millions (I think, cos I don't know how to work it out) and there's probably not enough prize money to cover what it would cost you.
HiI think the trick is not to go for the big win put try for the smaller prizes,as for the odds if you tossed a coin in the air 100 times there is no guarantee that the heads will land 50 times but the maths say it should
I believe the odds of winning the jackpot are 14million - 1 so you should need to spend £14 million to guarantee this. This would mean that the jackpot would be boosted by your 14m and you would win all the other prizes as well. You would have to take into account other people winning though so the overall amount would probably be less than the £14m you invested originally!
I don,t have any thoughts about lottery cos i stopped doing it,BUT i now do the irish lottery which gives much better returns.3 WINNING NO,S on the irish lott gives a return of £280 unlike the camelot lottery you get only a tenner. You can only do irish lottery in betting office, but worth it.Won £560 this year already.
Yes I used to do the irish lottery and had forgotten all about it.
Many thanks for the reminder I remember the odds were good
Might give that a go, sounds like more chance of winning something.
Realy worth giving it a go MARKX,theres also other ways of winning more money.just ask at your local betting office.
The most economical way to cover more permutations is to set up or join a syndicate been in one for years but unfortunately still poor.
hope your luck changes tonight
If it does I will see you alright.
It is true that with a syndicate you stand more chance of winning but the winnings tend to be smaller. (10 members, one win of £10 equals one pound back.) I know I am stating the obvious but we never made a profit on a syndicate.
We did used to almost break even doing the Irish Lottery, as we paid out at Christmas it was almost like a Christmas savings club except we got back slightly less than we put in rather than slightly more.
But you could be a millionaire tomorrow which I won't be.
Whilst you have to share the winnings I think there is a greater chance of winning. I am in a syndicate at work and prior to this had dabbled on the lottery every now and again. I did once get 4 numbers two weeks in a row...got £120 first week and then £80 the next week. My Mum did once win £2500 when she got 5 numbers which she was really thrilled about.
i don't think that their is any system that we can use on the lottery wish their was,i used to do it every week never won much in years of doing it, i know someone will win but believe it is purley down to luck
the odds are truly dreadful ie you have more chance of dying while watching the programme than winning, the returns are also awful (something about 17P in the £), bingo is actually the best thing to gamble on as you are more likely to win and with a greater return.
It must be being so cheerful keeps you going :-). I have tried on line bingo sites or almost. It was one of those offers where they double your investment. I put in £10, could not get the site to work (probably I had no flash or something like that) and they repaid me £20 (having double my investment. I never dared go back in case they asked for their money back. Still I would highly recommend on line bingo
That made me laugh Katkity! The other way to look at it is £1 pw £52 pa can you afford to lose that because you might just be a winner as Markx says. Bingo you have to get there and I dare say you will spend more per visit. A good hen nite!
Love that Susan. That's like my free TV... they sent me another by accident because I took out a 2nd policy by accident and then cancelled it. Two TVs for an investment of £6! Sorry to brag! but it is getting late!
That definitely beats mine. Which reminds me I am still waiting for my free Sudoku game from Saga for asking for a quote from them. I only ring them when they have something free to offer as they can never match any other quote. I really prefer the ones with a £10 M&S voucher but a free Sudoku game was worth the phone call.
haha you suggesting im a pessimist Susancrane? :D loved the tv story Pmscot93
Someone has to win it and you never know... You do have to buy a ticket though.
A few years ago there was a new lottery online where the jackpot was smaller (500k) but it had to be won ie it couldn't rollover. How this worked was if no one matched 6 numbers then it was split between anyone that matched 5, if no one matched 5 etc etc. This was great as there was more chance of winning and more money went to good causes as well. I personally won about £18 in the first week it ran then a couple of months later I won £1200. Unfortunately it didn't do that well and got taken over by one of those awful quiz companies that fleece you something rotten.
the thunderball prize has gone up to £250,000, apparently the best way to win the main prize as the odds are better. Don't think there is a system but if you buy two lines you have doubled your chances!
I don't think there are any 'winning systems', it's just a gamble that might pay off, but probably won't as the odds against are very high.
No as Susancrane says the only way you are a guaranteed winner is not to do it at all. But we all like to dream and if you can afford it have a go but don't in any way rely on any winnings.
I don't believe that there is a genuine lottery winning system. If there was everybody would be using it.
