Whilst this ins't a huge amount it may certainly pay to shop about for your holiday, but with all the questions and comments about recently holiday nightmares make sure you book with a ABTA member
Both Thomas Cook and Tui Travel have seen their share prices fall this year, people waiting until the last minute to book (if at all) and costs incurred because of the Ash Cloud earlier this year and affected them badly as well as smaller operators. I was looking at this a couple of days ago and came to the conclusion that I would book next year's holiday now as prices were bound to rise and VAT jumps in January.
Everyone's prices will increase with the planned rise in VAT rates so get the best deal you can now.
i think we all know that everone's prices will go up with the vat going up i have booked mine for next may only had to put small deposit so secured my price, i think if you can book now
Hope everyone books a holiday bargain, and gets the best deal.
yes i agree, of course the other companys may do the same, but hopefully there will be some bargins around! after that poor ladys ordeal im completely paranoid now!
Thomas Cook are way over priced and I can't remember the last time I booked a holiday through them (if ever). All the more reason for people to source their holidays independently to get the best deal. Another holiday company has gone under this week so whilst you can get some really cheap deals you should always ensure they are ABTA bonded, but even this is not always a guarantee that things will not go wrong or you will be unhappy with the level of service/accommodation.
With less people going on holidays and some companies going bust, i think all costs will rise abit to make abit more profit from the holiday goers.
I always find the staff in Thomas Cook to be unhelpful and not at all interested in finding you the best deal. They seem to have a certain place that they go all out to sell, whether you are interested or not.

That's a good point about the VAT!
Tui have over 600,000 unsold holidays for this summer. 80,000 more than last summer.
