By the sounds of what it says on the back of your bills you probably have a strong case to claim the charges back. Most PPI policies pay out on redundancy/long term sickness etc, i.e. your regular income has just stopped and so the policy pays your minimum balance or whatever ubtil you're in a position to cover it again. If you were sold PPI when you weren't in paid employment then you've effectively been misold a policy you probably couldn't claim on... It would be interesting to see the card company disagree with the criteria that is listed on their bills. I'd look into claiming your charges back o this basis if I were you.

As far as I am aware, your current income shouldn't come into it. If you are found to be eligible to receive the ppi charges back, then salary or benefits won't stop you from getting it still. =)

Sorry, i realised the way i worded my question doesn't make this clear, but system doesn't seem to allow you to edit it or delete it...I don't mean current income, i mean if you were not in paid employment when you were sold the PPI. The info in money.co.uk's goal on reclaiming PPI says you're not eligible to be sold PPI if you're not in paid employment, and that is also what it says on the reverse of my credit card bills. I was not in paid employment at the time when i was sold it. Rang the card issuer yesterday to cancel the PPI giving them that reason, but they insisted that you are eligible even if not in paid employment at the time it was sold to you. Cancelled the PPI anyway.

Then I'd get on to them about it because something isn't right about it all. I think it sounds like very common case of ppi being mis sold. Get the balk rolling, contact them.

I wouldn't have thought it would because it's there to replace your wages or salary so if you don't have one there is nothing to replace.

Sounds like you need to investigate claiming back what you have paid as I think you have definitely been mis-sold the PPI. I really thought companies were getting better at not mis-selling as three has been so much talk in the papers and online about this for years now

ppi is designed for people who are working to cover their payments if they become unemployed if you were sold this and not in employment at the time it was missold to you and you can reclaim any payments you maid

You are not eligable to take out PPI if you are not in paid employment. You should find find it easy to reclaim your charges as you were misold the cover.
