Do you use any good and reliable free PC anti-virus that is not one-month free trial of the paying ones?
I am already aware of this one - http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
Do you use this one or any other free one that you can personally recommend?
Thanks
I have been using the Microsoft Essentials free one which seems fine. I also have Mcafee free for a year with my sky broadband (on the lap top I am using. I believe it is £3 per month after the first year but it covers up to 3 PC's.

Been using this one a while and have had no problems :-)
That's great, thanks, I will check this one out.
AVG - free and strongly recommended to me by techie friends who know a thing or three about such things.
Thanks, Sidesalad, great to know the experts recommendations too.
Palandraca I have the Microsoft Security Essentials package which is free to download and I have not had any problems to date and would recommend it.
Oh yeah, I had heard about this one sometime ago. Thanks for the info, it is good to know from first-hand experience :)
I've always used AVG Free. Never let me down. That is always free, they do have a pay version with added extras but i don't think its worth it.
I have used the avast one in the past that you mentioned in your question. It is a very good, realiable anti-virus for your everyday needs. It will not compare well against paid protection (as you would expect) but for free, you can't really go wrong. Also, when you look at say Norton, I can't find £60 worth of extras which is different to avast.
As per my question, I already knew about this one.
Yes, but in your question you said: Do you use this one or any other free one that you can recommend? That was asking has anyone used avast or another and can recommend? I have used the avast one and can recommend for general use and especially against norton.
Go for AVG Free. As the name suggests its free and it is very reliable with daily updates.

Thanks, ladyjune. I don't have sky broadband unfortunately, but £3/month is not too bad actually, especially for multiple pcs.
