Somebody mentioned this to me the other day because I use daily lenses and pay £30 a month for them. That includes the cost of a yearly check up but still seems quite high. So I wondered if anyone else had bought online and what they thought.
They're definitely cheaper than buying direct from a high street optician. As far as quality goes, you would order the exact brand you usually use so there's no difference there. Just use the optician for the eye health, sight tests and contact lens after care appointments and I bet you'll still find you're saving money.
Shop around - we pay £17 per month for lenses for my daughter and that includes a regular check-up. Our optician is very good and has explained to her how she can cause damage if she doesn't follow instructions, and shown her pictures of how he can pick this up, and what the consequences would be. I'm not convinced online buying would be as good, personally
I used to buy my contact lenses from contactlenses.co.uk, when I wore them.
I have astigmatism and short-sightedness in both eyes, so lenses were expensive but much cheaper when bought online.
Just remember to get regular check ups still. You need to keep your eyes in good condition whether you buy the lenses online or offline - and don't use brands that you've never used before or been checked for!
When I bought lenses, I got my Acuvue ones from the website in bulk. Easy.
I have a similar problem to yourself, I had ever really considered buying them online, but may give it a bash.
I have looked to buy online but haven't gone for it in the end as I need quite a good pair of contact lenses or my eyes suffer and prefer to get the advice where I shop. Mines are considerably cheaper than the ones you are paying for though since I get 3 months worth for £50. It would be great to get the same brand of contact lenses but cheaper though.
Your eyes are a precious thing, so dont go into this to hastely. There are plenty of opticians that do deals on contact lenses and give a very good after service such as regular eye health checks. Some opticians also give you an offer buying half price designer glasses or sun glasses. I used to work in a opticians so I do know what problems came in. Please take your time to check this, your eyes are special
We use lensway who don't require a written prescription. The lenses are branded and sealed (of course) and so are the same as you can buy from the high street. They also pack them in long thin boxes which fit through normal letterboxes so no trip to the post office to pick them up if you are out like normal parcels. Have a look at them
I get mine through Specsavers, i did it all in my lunch hour and pay 10 pounds month. I receive 3 packs of lenses every 3 months in a long box through the post and have never had any trouble with them :)
I have thought about it, but have yet to find a better deal with the after care than Specsavers. I pay £10 per month (after some blagging) for monthly lenses and the solution, plus if I have a problem I walk into any specsavers
you can reduce the £10 to £7 by cancelling the solution. You can themn buy solution much cheaper in Asda or Tesco.
If you are buying on-line, you will still need to send them details of your eye test every couple of years. You can always benefit from free eye test via offers at D&A (through Nectar) or through work (if you only wear them for VDU work).

I've just had a look and the brand I have are only available through an optician and similar brands are even more expensive! Thanks for your help anyway..........maybe I'll have better luck reducing my gym membership!
