I have tried on-line but their prices are normally more expensive than what you pay at the actual theatre's box office. You can queue up at the cheap ticket booths near liecester sq. but the seats are usually not that good i.e. you sit behind a post or up in the gods!
I know the National Theatre in London does what that they call 'Travelex £10 tickets', all for brand new productions and over half the seats are included in this. Depends on your tastes though, the NT's productions are at the highbrow end. Also lastminute.com do cheap London theatre tickets for all kinds of shows.
We actually got some from a stall outside one of the tube stations and the seats were fantastic. My wife loved it. I however, was not so interested and fell asleep after half an hour to be woken by a dig in the ribs when I started snoring!!! Never been forgiven for this!!!
Wow and I thought I was the only one - I'll can now tell my wife that I am not the only one who nods-off in the theatre.
I got great seats for Priscilla last summer £20 off at last minute.com. they often have tenner deals or deals with a meal included. definitely worth a look
disocunttheatre.com. Have bought ticket from there before and generally priced cheaply.
As mentioned below, lastminute is good as well, but tend to find sometimes selling obscured views frequently.
I always use lastminute.com as they are usually the best prices. I've never heard of the travelex tickets though so I'll certainly be intesting some time in that, thanks. =)
You're welcome, guess listening to Radio 4 has its uses!
haha, certainly does. I can't think off the top of my head where else discounted tickets can be purchased. I know ticketmaster is the home of tickets, but they can be so expensive. There's also a deal for 16-25 year old theatre tickets sponsored by the metro newspaper called 'a night less ordinary' which is very valuable for students!!
Also just have to add that the odd show usually do stints where they will sell a row of stalls tickets for example on the day. The most recent west end show I went to, you could buy a ticket for £20 and a lucky few were picked out. If you were picked then you got a stalls seat, if you were not then you got a standard dress circle seat. I didn't get a good seat, but for the price, the ticket was excellent.
Yeah, I also use lastminute and you can easily get half-priced top tickets. I'd suggest you signing up to their newsletter because they'll then inform you of the deals they do on some Thu from 10am for 24h and sometimes you need to act quickly to get a good deal. There usually are theatre tickets on these Thu deals. Good luck!
Lastminute usually have some deals on all the time. I got good seats for Billy Elliot and Les Miserables for about half the standard price without a special deal and you could pick where you wanted to be.
Would have to agree with everyone else that lastminute, or discout London is where i tend to get all my theatre tickets from.
I have previously used superbreak.com. Living in the 'North' always need accommodation too and they offer some really good ticket/dinner/accommodation packages.
I've used seetickets.co.uk and got some good deals. Very reliable. Also got cheap tickets for avenueQ by using a deal associated with the train tickets used to travel to London that day. (I'll try to find the link and post it here)
Lastminute.com is pretty good or you can just chance it and turn up ath the theater on the day. It depends then how close you live to London. Ebay also has people selling tickets to shows that they no longer can make, though you have to be careful that there 100% genuine.
certainly have - google 'discount theatre tickets' and 'discount theater' should come up - I saved £25 on tickets to a broadway show recently
Try going to website where British tourism is promoted. They sometimes have a great deal. A great example is visitbritain.com. Also, look at money.co.uk's own deal section - they sometimes have a decent deal or two in this regard.
I agree with others lastminute.com usually have great deals on theatre tickets and sometimes they have great dinner + tickets packages

Thanks - actually I'm going to the national theatre in a couple of weeks so I'll ask about that. Thanks again.
You're welcome! You can buy the £10 tickets online and there's no booking fee. Here's the link...
