What should I do with with unwanted tank kits and models?

by , 1 year agoClosed Question

When I was little my neighbour would make these amazing models of tanks/planes etc and bring them round for me. Well they've had their use dangling from my ceiling in the past and have been up in the loft for years. Need some space, so what should I do with them? How can I make the most of selling them?

i would take them to your local auction and let them go under the hammer

that's great news

You could try car boot sales, or even ebay, if you think they might be worth a bit of money you should try to find specialist sales, or you could also try selling them at an auction.

I think I might try the ebay option. Thing is, how would I know what to start them off at?! And then there's the question of how much do i want for them? They're sentimental, yes, but probably not worth a great deal.

Yes, if put into an auction under the right listing or into a specialist collectors auction they should reach their 'correct' value.

You would need to look at other listings to see what sort of prices they make, if they have been in your loft for a long time im guessing anything is bette than nothing - good luck

Do a search on sold items on Ebay that are similar to what you're selling and see if that looks worthwhile? Otherwise I'd do an online search for dealers.

You could try going into a local model shop and ask them if they know a regular customer who might be interested in them. Might be a way to find a dealer.

That's a good idea. Will track some down...

Yup dealers and Ebay... but I wd suggest keeping the 'collection' together it may be worth more than individual pieces. If you think they are rare an auction house may give you a valuation. Christies and Bonhams often have specialist sales of children's toys.

I think you are right, the key is in keeping them all as one single collection, selling them individually could lower their value significantly.

hope you find a good home for them, and a bit of cash too

Before you try and sell them, get them to an auction house and get a valuation first. When you 'll get the price then you will know what to do. If there is no value, then car boot will be the best option. With a high value a dealer or an auction will bring you the desired result. Good luck!

As suggested get them valued first. If they are worth anything they are worth auctioning, otherwise ebay!

by alpha, 1 year ago

if they are worth anything reasonable then a specialist auction or shop trading in such goods is your best bet but don't take the first offer unless it is very good, do your homework and find out for sure thier value if it is low as has been recommended e-bay will give you your best chance of making money with them

You can look at different sites such as ebay, old toys and games sites. you can look on bloggs or even add your own.If you feel like putting them some where were they can be seen ,looked at or touched you could offer them for school resources so that younger children can se things of yester year and to do with their history lessons. Just contact your local education authority. But what ever you choose to do take photos of them to keep your memories alive, Good luck.
