Any suggestions? Accessories included would be great as well eg lock, panniers etc
halfords have half price sales on regulaly also asda sell them at a very good price
I was just going to say exactly the same as below. It depends how much you want to spend. If you want a better quality bike, avoid Asda. The bikes in Halfords are always of a decent standard and I've always found the staff very helpful and knowledgable. I'm sure they've got a sale on at the minute, if not it won't be long for the next one.
Try Ebay, and search by distance. They dont just sell secound hand stuff, and by searching by distance, you wont have to travel far to get it.
Have you tried freecycle? They offer things unwanted by the owner but in a useable condition for free in many local areas.
I looked for months on ebay before finally taking the plunge and buying one. Definately cheaper on ebay, but then again, you'll have to arrange collection/pay for delivery...
But if you can find one local, in good enough condition, then go for it.
Depends how much you are willing to pay, but Halfords have some good bargains, and you can get cashback if you order online. eg http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_518233_langId_-1_categoryId_165499
Yeah. I looked around for ages before I bought one myself, and Halfords have definitely the best deals around for a brand new bike.
If you live in London though, a new bike scheme has just started, similar to the one operating in other European countries, where you pay a yearly fee and you can use the bikes available in many different locations throughout London. It is pretty good, and quite cost-effective for occassional bikers.
I would say its cheaper on ebay, but its always worth having a look at car boot sales, you can get some good bargains
I would recommend you buy a second hand bike (almost new).
OR
first check bike insurance companies that offer discounts on bike purchases if you buy the insurance product.
The ads in local papers are always a good place to look. Also, the cards in supermarkets and shops sometimes have bikes for sale. You could also put a card in yourself saying that you are looking for a bike. Might remind someone that they have a bike they have been meaning to sell.... Make sure you go for the free to advertise shops though.
tescos were doing brandnew bikes for £45 awhile ago.
Have you found out whether your work do a 'cycle to work' scheme? You can basically get a brand new bike that your employer pays for & that you pay back in salary-sacrifice installments. I think you get to buy a helmet etc too so worth investigating.
Halfords have some good bargains...
ASDA currently have a sale on bikes most sizes available and cheap.
